Our
reception was held in the Marvin Gardens Ballroom on the Boardwalk. Creative
Elegance did most of our reception decorations - they were amazing!
Linda did a wondrous job of transforming the hall into the reception of
our dreams, with a subtle Midsummer Night's Dream element throughout.
It began with the entrance to the ballroom... a forest of palms, ferns, peace lillies, and ficus trees lined either side of the entrance, strewn throughout with twinkle lights. Tulle and white lights were twined around the base of the trees and plants to create a foglike effect. At the end of the entrance, a grapvine arch twined with ivy and twinkle lights stood, providing entry to the reception.
The
ballroom was decorate with roman columns topped with draping ivy and white
lights, as well as ficus trees with twinkle lights. Chandeliers and wall
candlelamp lights finished off the lighting, dimmed low to create a nighttime
atmosphere in the room. The tables were similarly decorate to enhance the
Midsummer Night Dream's atmosphere. The full length ivory table linens were
topped with hunter green linens, and the chairs were wrapped in ivory with
green bows. Grapevine wreaths with white flowers, surrounding hurricane
lamps and candles, sat at the center of each table.
Decorating
the backs of the chairs were Mickey head wreaths, decorated with greenery
and white flowers, gifts for our guests. Each was unique, and each was handmade
by Minda of Briar
Rose Celebrations. Minda also created the dangling tinkerbells that
were hung from the centerpieces - little tinkerbell ornaments were suspended
from green wire, and were a hit with our guests (who made a mad dash for
them when we announced they could take the tinkerbells home).
Instead
of a full head table, we opted for a sweetheart table instead. We only had
34 guests at our wedding, so it made more sense for us to arrange the seating
this way. And we really wanted an intimate arrangement for us. The sweetheart
table was placed on a riser, the focal point of the table arrangements.
Two eight foot roman columns, with ivy, twinkle lights, and tulle draped
on them, were placed behind the table to either side. Ficus trees with twinkle
lights were placed on either side of the columns, with shorter roman columns,
ivy, and lights placed to either side of those. Our unity candle arrangement
was brought in as our centerpiece, and ivy, tulle, pearls, and lights were
draped along the front of the table. It was truly a magical arrangement!
The
dance floor was set up between the tables and the DJ. We had a rose projected
onto the dance floor, which many of our guests loved. Michelle loves roses,
and thought this was a truly romantic touch... especially given the roses
presented during their wedding ceremony.
The DJ had stars projected on the wall behind him, and was placed on a riser with roman columns topped with ivy and lights to either side, and ficus trees with lights beside the columns. All the risers in the room were covered with ivory linens.
The
bar was set up to one side, masked with ivory linens and surrounded by ficus
trees so that it blended in nicely with the theme of the room, but was also
obvious to guests as the place to get their drinks.
The
cake table was placed on the wall opposite the sweetheart table, with stars
projected behind it as well. Disney Floral provided the decorations here,
placing the bridesmaids' and bride's bouquets around the table as decorations,
and adding a scattering of rose petals. The linen was artfully arranged
to provide character to the table, and the dancing Mickey and Minnie wedding
cake table sat off to one side of the cake.
The ambiance of the room was incredible, and it was all we could have hoped for and more. Creative Elegance did an amazing job of creating the reception of our dreams!
