The Wedding Cake

Our Wedding Cake was the Destination Castle wedding cake, three layers of moist white cake with rich buttercream frosting. The filling of the bottom and top layers was white chocolate mousse, and the middle layer had white chocolate mousse with strawberries. Mmm mmm! The outer layer of the cake was rolled fondant, which was removed by the Boardwalk Staff before served to the guests. Pearls rimmed the edge of each layer, with drapes and roses of frosting decorating the edge. The top of the cake was a solid white chocolate replica of Cinderella's Castle. It is the best tasting cake we've ever had!

Cutting The Cake

Such a decadent cake deserved a song fitting to its sweet-tooth nature, and so we chose "Sugar, Sugar" as our cake cutting song. Its upbeat music set the perfect tone for this happy moment as we cut our wedding cake, and then fed it to each other.

We were nice to each other, to the disappointment of our guests, and only came out of it with some cake on the nose (though John did get some on his face before he moved out of range of my hand), which we gladly kissed off for each other.

The Slipper Dessert

The Slipper Dessert was another highlight of the evening, and one of the surprises we planned for our guests. No one knew what the dessert was until it was served, and the looks of wonder on their faces was payment enough! The slipper itself is thick white chocolate, with white chocolate mousse filling and raspberry "buttons." Next to it was a dark chocolate tear, filled with white chocolate mousse and milk chocolate shavings. A raspberry syrup tear with white chocolate syrup hearts line the bottom of the plate, and a milk chocolate castle was screened onto the plate.

A Disney Wedding Tradition - at least for those receptions serving this dessert - is for the guests to lick the chocolate castles off the plate, in order to give good luck to the bride and groom. Our friends and family got right into the spirit of things with this, and almost every plate was licked clean! Of course, another Disney Wedding Tradition is that if twelve guests lick their plates, then the groom has to as well - if he doesn't, it's bad luck! So John fulfilled his duty, and licked his plate clean as well!

"I've known John about sixteen years, and for those of you who know John, you can understand when I say that we've had some interesting stories and discussions, sometimes sober, sometimes not. But one thing that really stood out that John said on several occassions was that he always wanted to be a part of, or just catch a glimpse of something that had a hint of magic to it.

And I figured today of all days that it'd be very appropriate to point out that he's probably realizing that he's caught a glimpse or been a part of something that has a hint of magic to it. So, if you could raise your glasses with me, I would ask that God bless you both with a lifetime filled with magic moments.
