One of the ways to make a Disney Wedding truly memorable is by an appearance by one or more Disney Characters. They add an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment to the reception, and instill in everyone that sense of wonder and enchantment we all remember as children.
We kept the character appearances a secret from all of our guests, and so it was a great surprise to all of them when the characters started arriving, adding even more to the sense of magic of the day. Everyone loved them, and we were surprised by how many people got up to dance with all of the characters. They were a great hit!

Mushu,
that rascal of a dragon from Disney's Mulan, was our first character
appearance at our reception. John and I just had to have a Dragon appear
at our wedding to make the fairytale complete, and given that Mushu is one
of my favorite Disney characters, he made the perfect choice!!
Though we had the characters begin appearing in the last hour and a half of our reception, Mushu helped to send the party atmosphere to new heights, arriving to "Rhythm of the Night" and getting everyone up on the dance floor to join him in a dance.
Mushu
allowed us to throw another surprise to some of our guests, and we dragged
several of our friends out onto the dancefloor to share a song
and dance with Mushu to "I'll Make A Man Out Of You." A favorite
song of theirs, this delighted them to no end, and they had a wild time
singing in front of everyone to this song. Even the DJ was surprised they
knew all the words!

What
wedding in Walt Disney World would truly be complete without the appearance
of Mickey and Minnie? Likewise, we knew that we had to have this wonderful
couple, the inspiration of so much magic and so many dreams, the shining
symbol of the Magic Kingdom that has become the home of so many of ours,
dance with us on our wedding day. And so, shortly before Mushu departed,
Mickey and Minnie came to our reception.
Dressed
in their finest, they made a stunning addition to our wedding, and added
a touch of endearing elegance that would not have been there without them.
They entered to a medly of Disney love songs, and shared a dance with the
bride and groom. Then, to pick up the dancing again, Mickey invited everyone
out to dance with them to "Hey, Mickey."
But
the truly touching moment was the last dance with them, to "Remember
the Magic." Mickey & Minnie danced together to this song, and through
their dancing and interaction with us, made us all aware of the sentiments
of love and endearment in this song. They managed to touch us all in a very
profound way, and most of us stopped to watch the two of them. I don't think
there was a dry eye in the room when they were done.
This
song has a special place in our hearts, for it was the theme song of the
Magic Kingdom during the 25th Birthday Celebration, during the year when
John proposed and we exchanged our first promise of marriage together. But
more, this song holds a sentiment we wish to share and extend to all of
our guests. Remember the magic in your lives. Never let that feeling go.

Pluto's
appearance was actually a surprise for the groom, and John was just as shocked
as the rest when "The Dog" himself made his appearance! His was
the final character appearance, arriving about ten minutes before Mickey
& Minnie left, and staying right till the last couple of dances of the
reception.
John
mentioned once to Michelle, during all the wedding planning, that if he
could invite one more character to the Wedding, he would have it be Pluto,
for 'The Dog' had always held a special place in his heart. So Michelle
conspired with Carol, our Disney Wedding Coordinator, to surprise John -
and all the guests - with an appearance by Pluto!
Pluto
entered to the song "Puppy Love," and carried in his mouth a bone
pillow embroidered with "Puppy Dog." When we first started dating,
a friend of ours had called John Michelle's puppy dog and it became Michelle's
petname for John for years. And so she set up this whole entrance to be
symbolic of their "puppy love" of so long ago, and share this
surprise with John.
Pluto's
appearance immediately added to the laughter of the day, as a game of fetch
and hide-and-seek began between John, Pluto, Mickey, Minnie, and a few of
our wedding guests over the bone. People's sides were in stitches over the
antics of this group!
Afterwards,
Pluto picked up the dancing atmosphere, sharing several dances with people
and getting everyone up and moving, despite this being the end of four hours
of dancing! Certainly he left us all "dog-tired" when he finally
made his grand finale, and heralded the last couple of songs for the reception.
