When
I had first begun planning our Disney wedding (after our MA plans fell through),
back in December 2000, I had been referred to the DisneyDollarless
group. I joined their email
list, and soon became an active member, quickly realizing how valuable
a resource this group was. Not only did they help me find great bargains,
but they were full of advice and tips, and fostered a genuinely warm and
supportive atmosphere amongst all members.
DisneyDollarless is the group for those who "want to go to Disney World but are broke." It is a group of people dedicated to sharing tips, advice, and bargains, and helping one another experience "the magic of Disney for less." Disney is a wonderful place to vacation, but it can be very expensive, and the DisneyDollarless group is all about sharing ways to afford to visit the Mouse.
Many
of us from the DDL list were vacation in Disney at the same time, and so
we arranged to have a big Meet at Boma's in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. (We
had a smaller meet with a few of the DDL folks at the Artist Point restaurant
in the Wilderness Lodge on August 19th, before our wedding guests arrived,
and that was great fun. But this meet was much larger).
After parting ways with the Best Man and his wife in MGM Studios, we made our way to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We arrived very early, and waited in one of the overlook lounges, where we ended up falling asleep and taking a nice, very needed, little nap. We then made our way back to the lobby, where we met up with some of our friends (AJ and Mike), who were joining us for the DDL Meet at Boma's.
Dinner
was wonderful! We had so much fun! We all sat together at two tables, and
talked and laughed our way through dinner. It was really great to meet some
of the people I had chatted and shared so much planning with online in person
at last. We had so much fun talking about our current trips to Disney, and
sharing our wedding with all of them.
The buffet was amazing - there was so much food to try! This place definitely ranks as one of our favorite restaurants, and you really get your money's worth and then some. We went back multiple times to try different things, including the AMAZING desserts!
The
evening went by far too quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to depart.
We all gathered around the table for some group photos to remember the evening
by, and then we were all making our goodbyes and leaving.
AJ & Mike joined John and I in another stroll through the resort, and we spent a lot of time animal-watching. The cast member in the Arusha Rock area let us use the night vision goggles to watch the animals out in the savannah, and we soaked up the exotic atmosphere of this incredible resort. Finally, we made our way to the bus stop, for our final stop of the evening: back to DisneyQuest.
